I decided this was my year to throw myself into student politics, something I haven't done since grade 12. My first foray into the world of seemingly cut-throat university student elections has proved to be nothing short of fun. I have experienced support that I didn't know existed, from students who never even met me to even the most rigid professors enjoying my posters. Voting is currently taking place, but no matter what the outcome, I feel supported and lucky to have had the opportunity to share with other students my opinions, and have them reciprocate the motion. The support felt on UPEI's campus is overwhelming. Even my opponent helped me put up and tear down posters! He was a total stranger before the election! In total, I appreciated UPEI for many reasons, but the kind support from genuine students is a unique experience that I treasure.
