I am a first year Arts student. I am taking the University 100 program and have gotten the encouragement I needed to succeed. One of my projects was to do Service Learning. Through this project I have been able to work with The Autism Society of PEI and develop a list of initial interventions for parents of recently diagnosed children. I wanted to do something that had some meaning and was not just another project. My cousin Mark, who was diagnosed with Autism at a young age was my inspiration for this project and is why I chose the Autism Society. UPEI has not only given me an opportunity to learn but also an opportunity to get out in the community and make a difference in the lives of the people around us.
