I'm a mature part time student, deciding to go back to school with a young daughter at home, a straw bale home to finish building and a full time job seemed at first to be ludicrous! Where would I find the time & energy? Would I even be able to absorb the curriculum? The opportunity to attend classes part time with support of my workplace was offered to me almost two years ago when we were just starting the construction of our straw bale home and at the time I said I would wait till things settled down, but two years passed and things stayed busy. If I waited till things settled I'd never go so I took the plunge. My first class was Math 151. I was nervous I would even pass the assessment test as high school algebra was 16 years distant. I passed. I enjoyed the class (thanks Dr. Fitzpatrick), the atmosphere of UPEI & the sense of smallness, connectivity & access to staff & services. It's challenging but exciting and I am looking forward to the rest of my learning path through UPEI.
