It was the PNP program that brought my family and me from Suzhou, China to Charlottetown, PEI, and it was the coordinator of EAP that encouraged me to be a student with EAP at UPEI. Because I am not young anymore and also a mother of two young kids, I had never thought about going to university again. Until one day, in the EAP coordinator’s office, she said to me, “You are a mature student with a lot of experiences. Why don’t you try to apply to the Nursing Program at UPEI?” I figured I had nothing to lose, so I stepped into a class of English Academic Writing. After I took several classes, I found that writing class could be interesting. Every ethical topic discussion, example’s analysis, and practice make me enjoy myself. Additionally, I was moved by our teacher’s patience which reflects a strong sense of responsibility. As long as some of us didn’t understand what she was talking about, she would explain twice, three times, or more times till all students nodded their heads...
