I have very fond memories of UPEI beginning from the time that I was 6-7 years old. My oldest sister, Sharon MacDonald (deceased), attended UPEI and was very involved in many clubs and committees. She loved campus life and participated in most events including winter carnival where she was crowned “Miss UPEI” in 1973. I tagged along with her a lot and I learned to skate at the old UPEI rink, attended hockey games, football games and masses at the Chapel. I remember going to the Library with Sharon and meeting the President, Dr. Ronald Baker, and many of her professors calling her by name. She loved attending here so much because of the closeness that she felt in a smaller campus. Sharon went on to Dal and married UPEI business graduate Guy Desaulniers.
I watched the AVC being built, not realizing that in 1988 I would be working there. I experienced again what a great relationship the professors have with their students and what a great place UPEI is to work.
